With the external claddings almost complete Argyle St is showing its form. The new addition with its sloped face brickwork façade fronting Argyle St nestles comfortably between the old Victorian houses to the left and the contemporary house to its right.
The sloped façade allows the old heritage building to be visible from both directions and is intended to be subtle and sympathetic addition to the street.
At every opportunity the house aims to retain and highlight the old versus new, whether it be exposing the bluestone internally in the entry and dining area or providing glimpses through to neighbouring chimneys via the skylight over the shower.
The new buildings are clad in robust materials including brick, zinc and feature copper insets which will age and in time become the heritage layer.

It is with great pride and delight to announce that our firm Interlandi Mantesso Architects
are the recipients of the Urban Development Institute of Australia
-Judges award for Design Excellence, 2014, for the Willow Park development at Maidstone.
Being recognised by development industry peers for design innovation and urban design renewal is flattering.
The entry culminated after a six year period, and was undertaken jointly with the developer
JMC Group.
A conscious approach was adopted at the onset of the design process, to establish a residential development that would evolve in its architectural form and composition over the duration
of the development.
This would enable the development to emphasize a sense of community
– via an architectural response of contemporary built forms.
The proprietor shared our view that the built form should be varied to contribute
to the new neighbourhood character. Our design creativity and flair was never curbed
by the proprietor, but encouraged.
We are extremely proud of our dedicated staff who have been involved in this project
over its existence.
