Village Square Plaza

IMA were commissioned by the Mt Buller Resort Management Board to refurbish and extend the existing visitor centre located in the village square. The project incorporated the relocation of a new entry lobby to connect directly with the village plaza, extending the northern and west wings by enclosing the perimeter walkways with double glazing, the addition of a new mezzanine level accessed via a new stair and lift and a new terrace at first floor overlooking the village plaza.

The interiors were totally refurbished including new floor finishes and light fittings, a new gas fireplace and new furniture throughout. The exterior has maintained the alpine vocabulary with the utilization of local stonework for the entry pillars and the connection with the plaza has been markedly improved with the relocation of the two storey entry and full height glazing to the perimeter. The interior finishes of carpet, timber lined ceilings, timber furnishings, fireplace etc. have been selected to add warmth and colour together with durability during the busy winter months. The new Plaza Centre will provide a comfortable centrally located facility for visitors during both the winter and summer seasons
